What is an access bundle?

Access bundles are used to grant access rights to files/folders to groups of users who do not already have (a particular kind of) access to such file.

An access bundle can be associated with either all users of a customer, and/or with the users of one or more groups. Individual users cannot be made part of an access bundle: you have to assign them to a specific group first, and then associate the group with one or more access bundles.

Each access bundle can grant use, edit and create rights.

  • Having a use right means that you can see the contents of a certain file — in other systems this is also called “read rights”. (In ClauseBase, however, we chose to label it “use rights”, because this right for example also allows you to insert a clause into your document, which is broader than mere reading.)
  • Having edit rights means that you can edit the contents of a certain file — in other systems this is also called “edit rights”. If you have edit rights, you also have the right to delete a file.
  • Creation rights are only relevant for folders. They specify that someone has the right to create new items (clauses, subfolders, concepts, etc.) within a folder.

Access bundles can be created in the access bundles page of your settings, or centrally by your administrator.

For more information on where you can view access bundles and how to manage them, see the access bundles page. Access bundles can be assigned to individual files by editing the file properties.
